Getting Unstuck
In this generative workshop, we’ll discuss and practice two key strategies for moving through creative frustration: 1) turning to visual art and 2) addressing our beloveds in new ways. We’ll look at “Hemlock, 1956” by Victoria Chang, which responds to a painting by Joan Mitchell, then write our own responses. And we’ll examine “All My Friends, Assemble!” by Gabrielle Calvocoressi, which reimagines community, then write toward our own refreshed notions of gathering and belonging. Participants can expect to draft at least two new pieces. Come prepared to dream and experiment wildly.
